Hi! I’m Huub 👋🏻

Software engineer. Builder of useful things. Occasional runner. I enjoy creating clear, dependable software and exploring the world one project (and one country) at a time.

If life were a codebase, mine would be one of those surprisingly stable ones: the kind that’s been patched a few times, travelled across continents, survived questionable deployments (looking at you, Brazilian bureaucracy), and still compiles without warnings.

I’m a full-time software engineer since 2019 — the professional kind — but I started tinkering much earlier. Internships, side projects, entrepreneurial experiments… you name it. Somewhere along the way I discovered that I love building things that people actually use. Preferably beautiful, simple things that don’t require thirty-seven clicks to log in.

I speak Dutch, English, and Portuguese, which means I can debug, negotiate, and order coffee in three languages. I’ve lived in the Netherlands, Brazil, and now Portugal, which makes me internationally adaptable — or perhaps just very good at packing suitcases.

When I’m not coding, you’ll probably find me running. I’ve done multiple marathons, which is either impressive or slightly alarming depending on who you ask. I also do fitness, watch football religiously, and have a soft spot for projects that combine technology with real-world impact.

What I do

I build clean, reliable, and scalable software — with an un-Dutch amount of enthusiasm and a very Dutch amount of practicality. I’ve worked with startups, agencies, and my own ventures, and I enjoy both deep technical work and the entrepreneurial puzzle around it.

What I write about

On this site you’ll find thoughts on coding, building businesses, remote work, productivity, and the occasional life-abroad anecdote. Expect a mix of useful insight and light self-deprecation — because if we can’t laugh at our bugs, what else do we have?

Why you should stick around

If you’re into technology, building things from scratch, curious perspectives, or just want to follow someone trying to navigate life with both ambition and down-to-earth Dutch sensibility… you’re in the right place.
